Position Overview:
The Torque Turn Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining the computer torque monitoring system used during the installation of casing on drilling rigs. This technician ensures the accurate measurement and recording of torque data to guarantee the proper installation and integrity of casing. They will collaborate with the casing crew and other personnel to ensure that operations are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and monitor the torque turn computer system to ensure proper measurements during casing installation.
Ensure real-time data recording and provide updates to the rig supervisor on data.
Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to the torque turn equipment.
Conduct pre-job checks and calibrations on the torque monitoring system to ensure its accuracy.
Maintain detailed records of data for reporting and analysis.
Work closely with the casing crew to ensure smooth operations and adherence to safety protocols and Casing Running Procedures.
Assist in the installation, maintenance, and calibration of torque monitoring equipment on the rig.
Follow industry standards, company procedures, and safety regulations to minimize risks and ensure safe operations.
Provide feedback on performance and assist with training new crew members on torque turn operations and equipment.
Prepare and submit progressive updates during the job detailing the status of the torque turn operations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Previous experience operating or supporting torque turn systems in the oil and gas industry, particularly in casing operations.
Strong understanding of drilling rig operations and casing procedures.
Knowledge of torque monitoring equipment, including calibration and troubleshooting techniques.
Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced and high-stakes environments.
Strong attention to detail and ability to record accurate data.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with team members and report progress.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
1 years of experience working with torque turn systems or in a similar role within the oil and gas industry.
Familiarity with industry-specific safety regulations and best practices & rig operations, or torque monitoring systems.
Valid Driver License
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in outdoor conditions, including exposure to various weather elements.
Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work long shifts
