JOB SUMMARY
The HR Generalist II is responsible for completing employee relations investigations, supporting HR Operations, managing leave requests, and providing reports audits Vanderbilt Mortgage and Finance (VMF) and HomeFirst Agency (HFA) organizations supporting several US locations. This position reports to the Human Resources Manager and handles employment-related inquiries from team members and leaders, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. This position serves as backup for Compensation reviews while assisting with audits and compliance related issues.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Employee Relations
- Partners with leaders from several locations on various employee relations issues. Escalates to Human Resources Manager on complex employee relations issues.
- Provides guidance and support to resolve matters in a way that fosters a confidential process and productive work environment.
- Collaborates with HR team in guiding objective, thorough, and timely investigations of team member or leader concerns/complaints received through internal or external sources, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and Berkshire Hathaway Hotline.
- Ensures leaders receive tools needed to successfully lead team members.
HR Operations Support
- Assists team with administrative duties within VMF/HFA in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assists team with organizational changes within the system.
- Partners with HR team on system issues that may arise to provide guidance and support.
- Collaborates with HR team on thoughts and suggestions for Workday (HR/PY system) enhancements.
- Provides support by assisting HR team with timekeeping and performance questions or issues.
Compliance/Leave Requests Collaborates with Benefits department on all leave requests. Partners with leadership to ensure company remains in compliance with compliance laws.
- Maintains solid foundation of knowledge on leave requirements related to day-to-day management of team members, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Educates leadership and team members on compliance laws in regards to leave requests, investigations, follow through, and communication.
- Develops an ongoing knowledge of HR laws and regulations.
- Informs Senior HR Manager on complex leave requests for guidance and suggestions.
Auditing/Reporting
- Provides various reports to assist HR team with business needs.
- Ensures Compliance team receives answers to state and federal audits in a timely manner.
- Creates and maintains various surveys ensuring organizational health.
- Partners with Talent Analytics to receive reports and audit requests in a timely and accurate manner.
Compensation Partner Backup
- Supports HR team by providing Compensation reviews for any salary changes as needed.
- Partners with HR team and leaders to better understand business issues and identify resolutions as it relates to compensation.
- Communicates approved Compensation reviews as backup for the HR team.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required, college preferred.
Years of Related Experience: 2-4 years Human Resources experience required.
Licenses/Certifications: PHR or SHRM Certification preferred.
