Job Summary:
Holy Cross Catholic Church seeks a skilled and dedicated Piano Accompanist to support our thriving music ministry. This individual will accompany the choir and congregation during Sunday Masses, Holy Day liturgies, and rehearsals. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Catholic liturgical music, familiar with OCP Breaking Bread and Flor y Canto, and committed to enhancing the Mass through music.
Responsibilities:
- Play piano for three Sunday morning Masses each week.
- Accompany Holy Day liturgies and additional seasonal services as needed.
- Attend and accompany choir rehearsals on Monday and Thursday evenings.
- Collaborate with the Music Director and Pastor to select and prepare appropriate liturgical music.
- Assist in leading and supporting congregational singing.
- Be available for weddings and funerals as needed (optional but preferred).
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in piano accompaniment with experience in liturgical settings.
- Familiarity with OCP Breaking Bread and Flor y Canto hymnals.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Music Director, choir, and clergy.
- Strong sight-reading skills and adaptability to various musical styles.
- Understanding of Catholic liturgical music and traditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience accompanying choral groups and congregational singing.
- Familiarity with Spanish-language liturgical music.
- Flexibility to accommodate additional rehearsals for special liturgies.
Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicants skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
