POSITION PURPOSE:
The Preschool Director is a vital member of the parish pastoral team supporting the Pastoral Assistant of Faith Formation in the sharing of our Catholic faith with the youngest members of our community and supporting their parents in passing on our faith to their children. The Preschool Director engages, involves, and encourages them in their continued participation in the SJV community. The Preschool Director is not only responsible for all aspects of the Preschool programs, but also supports the other parish staff when needed for events and programs involving the families of our parish. The Preschool and its families are an integral part of our Parish Life and as such is required to be an active, participating Catholic.
POSITION SCOPE:
This is a part-time position and includes evening and weekend work both in capacity as Preschool Director and as parish staff member. Our preschool generally follows the Lake Washington School district’s holiday and vacation schedule, although this is frequently reassessed based on the make-up of our preschool families. The Director’s paid days off may not always correspond to the preschool’s days off.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Overseeing the day-to-day running of the preschool
- Including organization and maintenance of the preschool facilities.
- Purchasing preschool school supplies.
- Arranging for Teacher, Aides, and Substitutes schedules and training.
- Developing and maintaining a preschool budget.
- Overseeing tuition and registration information in an organized
and up to date manner.

- Maintaining records for student support and health.
- Maintaining and updating the preschool information on the parish website and bulletin board located in the church narthex.
- Communication with the preschool families
- Coordinating Emergency Preparedness for the school and students and maintaining corresponding records.
- Leading and Coordinating Preschool staff meetings and attending weekly Parish Staff meetings.
- Leading or coordinating meetings for parent orientation, tours, conferences, and community building events including service projects. Also coordinates special events such as, Dad’s Pumpkin Carving, Trunk or Treat, Thanksgiving feasts, Santa visits, Christmas sing-a-longs, Mother’s Day teas and End-of-Year picnic.
- Developing and implementing curriculum plans in conjunction with the preschool teachers and staff members including a Catholic faith formation component for each classroom.
- Hiring, training, supervising, and supporting preschool staff.
- Marketing the preschool to parents and the community through preschool fairs, social media, and various neighborhood outlets.
- Ensuring compliance with Archdiocesan guidelines, including Safe Environment and Emergency Preparedness
- Attending Parish staff meetings and working in conjunction with the pastoral staff to better connect preschool families to our parish faith community.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a related field.
- Active, participating Catholic at their parish.
- Experience in a leadership and an educator role in a preschool setting.
- Thorough knowledge of Archdiocesan, State and Federal guidelines for childcare.
- Ability to use social media, computers and related programs to achieve required communication and marketing goals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to track and manage budgets.

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
