Description
I. POSITION PURPOSE
Acts as the day-to-day Pre-K instructor for 3-year-olds.
II. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Build a collaborative work relationship with the Pastor, parish staff, and the preschool team.
Bring the love of Jesus Christ to children through engaging age-appropriate activities.
Build student confidence in classroom activities and foster social relationships among peers.
Incorporation of age-appropriate Catholic curriculum.
Model desirable classroom behavior.
Proactive and professional communication with school families.
Support families and children in living out their faith.
Maintain a safe learning environment, including cleaning of supplies and classroom.
Develop a classroom environment in which cooperation, friendship skills, respect, and joy in learning can flourish.
Maintain documentation of student progress.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
ECE Initial Certificate (or working towards), ECE Short Certificate a plus.
Early childhood experience, two professional references, and understanding of developmentally appropriate practices.
Strong classroom management skills, ability to work independently with support from classroom aide.
Desire for a strong and purposeful community and ability to nurture it.
Maintain professional development in order to meet minimum diocesan and state standards for educators and staff.
Ability to perform the job responsibilities of this position.
Be mentally and physically capable of caring for a group of children.
Possess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences.
Have an awareness of the unique needs of young children and have appropriate expectations of their abilities.
Be able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry children up to 50lbs.
Have dependable transportation.
Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
