Blackstone is seeking an experienced insurance regulatory professional to serve as an internal and external subject matter expert for its insurance clients, supporting internal analysis of assets originated for the business’ insurance clients, and assisting those clients in same.
In partnership with the insurance regulatory team and broader insurance-focused team, this individual will play a crucial role in assisting Blackstone and its insurance clients understand and adapt to insurance regulatory policy. This individual will also collaborate closely with Blackstone’s deal teams and legal and compliance function, providing them with expert insights and technical knowledge to support their efforts in delivering tailored solutions to insurance clients.
The ideal candidate will bring deep practical expertise, strong industry knowledge, and excellent communication skills. They will be highly analytical with a diversified understanding of complex alternatives products.
Responsibilities will include:
- Serving as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert on insurance regulatory issues with respect to Blackstone’s full portfolio of private credit and alternative investment funds within the context of the US insurance markets.
- Reviewing Blackstone investments for insurance regulatory issues, advise deal teams and insurance business partners of same, to ensure structures reflect current and emerging regulatory rules.
- Staying abreast of and communicating developments in NAIC and state accounting policy with a focus on implications for Blackstone’s products and insurance clients.
- Acting as liaison on behalf of Blackstone with external insurance regulatory and policy stakeholders, including insurance regulators, trade associations, etc. where appropriate.
- Participating in client meetings, presentations and due diligence processes, demonstrating insurance accounting
expertise and building strong client relationships.
Qualifications:
Blackstone is seeking to hire an individual who is highly motivated, intelligent, organized and has demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. In addition, the successful candidate should have:
- 10 years of experience in insurance, with experience in alternative investments and private credit.
- Comprehensive understanding of alternative investment vehicles, including private equity, real estate, credit and other relevant products.
- Thorough understanding of NAIC and accounting policy workstreams, strong ability to communicate same to non-insurance regulatory audiences.
- Excellent collaboration skills and proven ability to work effectively across external-facing client relations and business development functions and internal-facing groups (e.g., finance, legal, operations, etc.); ability to translate technical knowledge into actionable insights, supporting client engagement, business development and client servicing efforts.
- Exceptional analytical skills, as the candidate will be responsible for evaluating complex alternative investment products and finding innovative solutions to regulatory questions when appropriate.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effectively interacting with clients and colleagues, articulating complex investment concepts in a straightforward manner, and building strong professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics or a related field is preferred.

Expected annual base salary range:
$225,000 - $250,000Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.
Additional compensation: Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with the advertised role.
