The Role:
Backstage is seeking an experienced and versatile Product Manager to help us expand beyond our core marketplace offering. You will be joining our team of five (and growing!) passionate product managers and designers who aim to make the world’s creator economy more accessible, inclusive, productive, and successful. We believe in hiring smart, curious people who are excited to learn and develop their skills, take bets, and be accountable for their own success. While we are open to remote US-based talent, there is a strong preference for NYC-based applicants for monthly on-site collaboration.
As a Product Manager on our team, you will lead the discovery, development, and growth of an exciting new product area. Additionally, you will be working closely with members of our engineering, design, data, marketing and operating teams to help drive the completion of our product roadmap. This position presents the unique opportunity to build something from the ground up and own the growth of a new revenue line.
Reports to Backstage’s Director of Product.
While we are open to remote US-based talent, there is a strong preference for New York City -based applicants for monthly on-site collaboration.
What You’ll Do:
Guide the vision, strategy and execution of a new Backstage product
Lead the product development lifecycle from ideation to launch to scale, ensuring alignment with company goals and user needs
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement the product roadmap and go-to-market strategy
Conduct market research and competitive analysis to inform product strategy and positioning
Build the product roadmap, define requirements, and prioritize features based on user feedback and business objectives
Strategize optimization of the growth funnel including onboarding, activation, and conversions beyond our core product. Experience with experimentation is a must.
Attuned to opportunities to leverage new technologies (ex. LLM) to build innovative workflows that solve real problems for the media and entertainment industry
What we’re looking for from you:
4 years of experience as a full-time Product Manager; experience with two-sided marketplaces or content-creator platforms strongly preferred
Proven experience bringing a commercially successful new product to market
Deep experience performing market, customer, and product research experience to understand your customers and uncover their true needs
Adept at using qualitative and quantitative research methods and methodologies, including market landscaping and competitor analysis, to support product decisions
Past experience owning go-to-market plans and commercial strategy for new products
Experience shipping high-quality software products that made a difference for your customers
Ability to navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
