Duties & Responsibilities:
● Prepare a variety of food items using flat-top grills, charbroilers, cooktops, waffle bakers, Panini presses, and fryers.
● Take responsibility for the quality of all food products prepared and served.
● Consistently adhere to standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen policies and procedures.
● Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to ensure smooth service periods.
● Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation, including all cooking and refrigeration equipment.
● Follow proper plate presentation and garnish setup for all dishes.
● Handle, store, and rotate all products properly.
● Assist in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed.
● Open and close the kitchen properly, following the closing checklist for kitchen stations. Assist others in closing the kitchen.
● Ensure orders are being cooked in a timely fashion so that all orders for a table are ready at the same time.
● Ensure that once the food is cooked, servers run food to the table while it's warm and ready.
● Read tickets and prepare, to order, all food items following standard recipes and procedures within specified time limits (8-10 minutes). Prepare recipes and plate presentations and correctly set them up according to tickets.
● Assist with routine kitchen cleaning and maintenance.
● Perform other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Lead or manager-on-duty.
● Must assist in any back-of-house (BOH) positions, including dishwasher, as needed
Qualifications:
● Experience: 1-2 years of cooking experience in a high-volume restaurant
● Strong communication skills in the predominant language(s) of our guests.
● Ability to work in a standing position for long periods (up to 6 hours).
● Current, valid California food handlers card.
