Executions and / or coordination of (specialized) engineering tasks.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor and control plant processes to meet finished product quality specifications.
- Technical liaison to plant personnel
- Process optimization
- Troubleshooting
- Daily instructions
- Implement and review SPC/SQC program
- Control process based on results.
Monitor and control plant processes to meet or exceed productivity standards.
- Monitor and track downtime
- Perform root cause analyses to maximize equipment reliability and maximize on-stream factor
- Collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering Departments to minimize and coordinate downday and maintenance activities
- Plan and Supervise plant trials
Capital Projects Management.
- Production liaison to Engineering Dept. on capital projects
- Write/submit CAPEX required reports
- Reviews plant documentation and drawings to ensure current and accurate
- Manage capital projects
- Lead contract project engineers and implementation contractors
Write plant operating logic (framework).
- Work with controls group on implementation, troubleshooting and optimization
- Design and implement some logic independently
Collaboration with R&D
- Production trial development and implementation.
- Product parameter and recipe development/adjustment.
- Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the analysis of information, the specification of the methods, process steps, and the plant, machinery and equipment required to design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials processes and process systems.
- Contribute to the development of and implement feasibility testing of proposed engineering solutions to provide feedback and data to validate the design.
- Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the drafting of engineering standards and specifications and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards.
- Carry out inspections under the supervision of senior colleagues to evaluate the quality of engineering works and / or the integrity of existing installations or structures, and make recommendations to senior colleagues on the remedial works needed to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Deliver required outcomes by coordinating activities of subcontractors and suppliers and acting as a primary point of contact for them while working within an established contract management plan.
- Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them.
REQUIREMENTS
- B.S. Chemical Engineering degree with at least 3 years of chemical plant (or heavy industrial) experience is preferred.
- Demonstrate skills in: self-direction, autonomous leadership, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, time management, team building, consensus building, prioritization, understanding of equipment and operation, adherence to schedule/plan, high level of organization and judgement.
- Understand DCS operations, mid- to high-level skill in standard computer operations (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
