TITLE: Sign Support Teacher Assistant
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 24 semester hours completed in any discipline with passing Work Keys Assessments. Basic proficiency in American Sign Language and Manually Coded English. Working knowledge of effective methods of dealing with hearing impaired children. Ability to solve minor problems and follow detailed written and oral instructions.

1. College transcript showing a degree was earned
2. College transcript showing at least 48 or more college level courses completed (CCS HR does not count any remedial/pre-requisite courses) uploaded into the application.
3. College transcript showing at least 24 or more college level courses completed (CCS HR does not count any remedial/pre-requisite courses) plus Work Keys Assessments with passing scores. This includes: Workplace Documents (Reading)- Score of 4 or better, Business Writing - Score of 3 or better, and Applied Mathematics- Score of 4 or better.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates various instructional activities.
- Checks and corrects students’ work while in progress; keeps students on task.
- Praises and reinforces achievement of students.
- Reports students' progress to teacher.
- Directs students’ attention/alerts the student to the speaker.
- Emphasizes vocabulary and language content.
- Implements teacher directions by pointing/locating/repeating strategy.
- Facilitates peer interaction.
- Serves as a language model and enhances language acquisition.
- Requires language “play” between service provider, student, and peers.
- Implements IEP goals in the classroom as suggested by the HI teacher and classroom teacher.
- Provides instructional preparation/support.
- Maintains student behavior.
- Reports discipline problems to teacher or principal.
- Reports significant change or lack of change in student behavior.
- Serves as team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organization core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer driven, and valuing diversity.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) when requested, for purposes of driving a school bus.
- Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community leaders.
- Must have finger dexterity and be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of kneeling, sitting, standing, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion.
Salary : $2,438 - $3,450
