JOB SUMMARY:
This role is responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, and the highest level of performance tuning and recovery procedures for mission critical enterprise systems. The role requires expertise with a variety of the enterprise hardware, software implementations, and application usage procedures. The role operates in a fast paced, dynamic, and challenging environment and must be passionate, accepting of a changing environment and constantly looking to influence the future outlook of the company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:
- Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Investigates and analyzes feasibility of system requirements and develops system specifications.
- Identifies methods, solutions, and provides project leadership and management in order to provide a high level of service to the customers of the systems.
- Manages the day-to-day operations of the enterprise systems by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and repair.
- Ensures that records of system downtime and equipment inventory are properly maintained. Applies revisions to enterprise system firmware and software.
- Develops new enterprise system and application implementation plans, custom scripts and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability.
- Trains technical staff in how to use new software and hardware developed and/or acquired.
- Performs troubleshooting as required. As such, leads problem-solving efforts often involving other support personnel.
- Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical enterprise system resources.
- Develops procedures to maintain security and protect enterprise systems from unauthorized use, acts of nature and user abuse.
- Develops procedures, programs and documentation for backup and restoration of enterprise systems and system applications.
- Performs hands-on administration duties and drafts systems documentation.
- Provides mentorship to junior administrators.
- Serves as a liaison to software project management process groups, operations groups, and various business support groups as directed.
- Participates in technical discussions and/or presentations.
- Stays current with technological developments in systems administration technology and recommends ways for PAI to take advantage of new technology.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Level 2/Systems Administrator with experience in scripting languages; PAI’s current hardware, software and technologies in use; enterprise backup and recovery procedures, and system performance monitoring tools; effective project management techniques; principles and practices of effective management and supervision.
- Ability to plan, organize and document complex system design activities.
- Communicate technical/complex information both verbally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain cooperation, understanding, trust and credibility.
- Perform multiple tasks concurrently and respond to emergency situations effectively.
- Strong knowledge and skillset working with Microsoft Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, Terminal Services/Remote Desktop Services, DHCP, DNS, IIS, and other roles/services offered in a Microsoft environment.
- VMWare vSphere experience a must.
- Microsoft 365 Cloud tenant administration experience required.
- Exchange 2016 / Exchange Online experience.
- Other operating systems (Linux/Unix, Mac OS) experience a plus.
- Database experience a plus (MS SQL).
- Strong working knowledge in DOS/batch scripting, PowerShell, and other scripting languages.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IPv4 (TCP/IPv6 a plus).
- Intensely self-motivated, proactively identifying problems and proposing solutions without being asked.
COMPUTER / APPLICATIONS SKILLS:
Expert knowledge of application platforms, operating systems and database.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This work is performed in a business office setting. At times the working environment can be distracting due to noise.
EFFORT:
Must be able to see, hear, speak and listen. Must be an excellent communicator and listener. Constant moving (up/down/around the office area) to address questions and provide coaching. Continuous looking at a computer screen. Daily contact with management and with co-workers. Work can be stressful and requires a calm, patient demeanor. Lifting of 60 pounds or less, which can be accommodated.
