JOB SUMMARY: Under the guidance of the manager and direct supervisor of a licensed optician, the Apprentice Optician will assist patients with eyewear selection, fitting, and minor repair. Must provide customer service in a friendly, courteous, professional manner. Tracking of orders, prescriptions and inventory. Educating patients on use and care of glasses and contacts. Assist with scheduling appointments and verifying insurance. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).
WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Works in a well-lighted, ventilated and air conditioned area. Long periods in a stationary position and moving around the unit are required. Must be attentive to detail. Will require independent judgment and thinking. There are risks of exposure to disease and infection. The task of this job does not involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, but employment may require performing supplemental tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. Must be able to move or position 25 lbs. independently.

Education: High School graduate.
Experience: One year optical experience preferred, not required.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR REGISTRATIONS:
Will require the applicant to begin a state of apprenticeship with the Kentucky Board of Opthalmic Dispensers upon employment.
