What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator position at 4M Precision Industries, Inc.?
Definition of Estimator: Estimators are competitive and financially driven team members with a high attention to detail. Estimators are highly motivated, self-driven, customer service focused and goal-oriented individuals. Estimators must maintain professional internal and external relationships that meet 4M Precision Industries core values. As Estimator you will be required to perform data entry, therefore, fast typing and multitasking are very important skills. Estimators will have primary responsibility for evaluating specifications and drawings, ensuring that we know everything required to successfully complete project. Once are jobs are accepted and PO received, Estimators are responsible to communicate all purchasing requirements to the Vice President.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- 2 years of Machine Shop and/or Manufacturing experience.
- Proficient written and oral communication.
- Strong ability to read engineering drawings, blueprints and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances.
- Knowledge of materials (stainless steel, aluminum, steel, etc.)
- Computer literacy: Excel, Word, Epicor manufacturing systems
- Familiar with the Windows OS environment
- Strong analytical, problem solving and planning skills.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Must follow all company policies and procedures, and properly and accurately enter time and attendance.
- Interpret engineering blueprints, specifications and other data to prepare accurate time, cost, material and labor estimates using Epicor software.
- Consult with subcontractors, management and personnel in other departments to determine manufacturing processes to ensure accuracy of quotes; Break down the manufacturing process by operations and inspections including any parts, tools and equipment needed.
- Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
- Review material and labor requirement to decide whether it is more cost effective to produce or purchase components.
- Confer with customers to resolve issues and to follow-up on quote status.
- Reviews internal and customer supplied documentation for accuracy and completeness, considering manufacturing processes and capabilities.
- Interfaces with external customers in order to obtain appropriate specifications, computer files and documents.
- Creates manufacturing process plans for details and assemblies, including, but not limited to, determining material sizes, plating requirements, coordinator of details and assemblies, and quality requirements.
- Ability to operate telephone systems to communicate with costumers, supplier or vendors.
- Support sales with sourcing quoting materials, components and purchased parts and sub-contracting in a timely manner so 4M sales can respond back to customer in real time.
- May perform other duties as assigned by management.
