RN/Office Nurse

Position Summary

• Under the direct supervision of the Specialty Practice Director and Specialty Practice Clinical Supervisor, performs and/or provides assistance with diagnostic cardiac studies in accordance with Hospital, departmental, regulatory and industry standards. Additionally, this position offers convenient day shift hours, no weekends, no holidays and no call.

Position Requirements

The ideal candidate should have experience in cardiology and/or pulmonology.

• Education:

• • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and licensed with the New Hampshire State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.

• • Must have successfully completed the Conscious Sedation Competency.

• Licensure/Certification(s):

• • Must be BLS and ACLS certified.

• • Valid New Hampshire driver's license required.

• Skills:

• • This position involves director or potential exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.

• • Strong critical thinking skills essential.

• • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are required.

• • Familiarity with compute applications required.

• • Must have technical aptitude and a willingness to learn software applications used at AVH.

• • Must have a reliable vehicle.

• • May travel to outreach clinics as needed.

• Work Experience:

• • Training or experience and ongoing education specific to nursing activities is required.

• Performs and provides assistance with dobutamine stress echocardiograms.

• Performs and provides assistance with conscious sedation delivery.

• Performs and provides assistance with recovery for transesophageal echocardiograms.

• Performs and provides assistance with cardioversions, venipuncture skills and stress tests.

• Manages Pic lines and other right atrial catheters.

• Provides professional nursing services to patients.

• Assists providers with examinations, procedures, treatment and telephone triage.

• Collects and correlates clinical history with the procedures/services to be provided, including vital signs, temperature, height, weight, brief cardiopulmonary, medical and medication history.

• Provides patient education with test or service.

• Assesses the patient for risk or potential of neglect and abuse. Makes referrals as appropriate.

• Reports complaints of pain to appropriate medical personnel.

• Conducts follow-up and ensures patient needs are met.

• Initiates follow-up patient calls as needed.

• Provides ongoing clinical support to Medical Assistants as needed.

• Tracks health maintenance and complies with meaningful use.

• Attends continuing education programs to maintain knowledge of current cardiology practices.

• Maintains confidentially in all aspects of duties.

• Adheres to HIPAA privacy practices.

• Builds effective relationships and demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively with others.

• Demonstrates flexibility and adjusts to changing work demands.

• Effectively communicates with Supervisor, Director, Medical Staff, co-workers, outside organizations, visitors, patients and their families.

• Adapts readily and appropriately to unforeseen challenges.
