JOB SUMMARY
The Field Adjuster I assesses and evaluates damage to insured properties when a loss is sustained. The Field Adjuster I reports to the Field Claims Supervisor and conducts on-site inspections, documents damage, and estimates repair costs.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Claims Inspection
- Travels to home sites within a designated territory to inspect, report, and assess the extent of damage to homes, personal property, and other structures.
- Partners with Field Claims Supervisor to identify causes and takes detailed notes and photographs of reported damage.
- Differentiates between pre-existing conditions and new damages related to the claim overseen by the Field Claims Supervisor.
- Identifies potential fraudulent claims and reports findings to office adjuster.
- Gathers facts to understand circumstances surrounding a loss.
- Creates diagrams of affected areas.
- Prepares comprehensive reports that outlines findings and estimated repair costs.
- Uses estimating software to determine the cost of repairs or replacements for the damaged property overseen by the Field Claims Supervisor.
- Works with an insured’s contractor or adjuster for agreed scope and estimates.
- Works closely with office adjusters and management to ensure a cohesive approach to handling claims.
- Adheres to safety protocols during inspections.
Customer Service
- Contacts homeowners to schedule inspections.
- Empathizes for homeowners dealing with loss.
Training and Education
- Completes required state continuing education requirements to maintain and renew adjuster license.
- Attends routine annual training to stay up to date with estimating software and trends in the industry.
Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent required, college degree preferred.
- Experience: 0-2 years of related experience required.
- Travel expected:
- Standard Monthly Travel - 20 days per month.
- Possible overnight travel 2-4 nights per week.
- Travel may be required outside of assigned territory or state.
- Occasional weekend work/travel required.
- Ability to route and manage.
- Must have strong computer skills with ability to navigate Microsoft Office Suite.
- Maintains excellent knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations.
- Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently via phone, email, and person to person.
- Capability of gathering facts accurately, analyzing causes, evaluating alternate solutions, and arriving at sound conclusions on action to be taken.
- Ability to manage multiple and/or conflicting responsibilities.

Licenses/Certifications: Property & Casualty Adjuster License in good standing.
