Job Title: EHS Consulting Specialist Location: New York, NY About the role: BSI is hiring a Consulting Specialist – Industrial Hygiene to support projects across the New York City area, with the majority of work supporting the NYC School Construction Authority and additional clients throughout the region. This is a full-time position with benefits, ideal for someone with a scientific background and hands-on field experience looking to grow in the industrial hygiene space. This opportunity is perfect for professionals who are ready to hit the ground running and support high-impact environmental health and safety work in a consulting environment. Responsibilities: Perform industrial hygiene (IH) exposure assessments and sampling plans Conduct hazardous building material surveys Interpret technical data and create detailed, client-facing reports Implement and maintain hazard communication and chemical safety programs Perform health and safety inspections and assessments (e.g., PPE, lockout/tagout, confined space, machine guarding) Deliver safety training programs for clients as needed Support development and maintenance of EHS management systems Collaborate with project teams to ensure timely and effective service delivery Education/Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field (EHS, Biology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, etc.) 2–5 years of experience in the EHS/industrial hygiene field Must hold a NYSDOL Asbestos Inspector license and NYCDEP Asbestos Investigator license, or be eligible to apply USEPA Lead Inspector license also required Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to draft technical reports using Microsoft Word Beginner-level experience with Microsoft Excel; familiarity with AutoCAD preferred Prior experience in health and safety inspections and regulatory compliance Professional certifications (CIH, ASP, CSP, CHMM, etc.) are a plus, but not required Ability to travel occasionally for project work What we offer: BSI offers a competitive salary, group-sponsored health and dental, short-term and long-term disability, a company-matched 401k plan, company paid life insurance, 11 paid holidays and 4 weeks paid time off. The salary for this position can range from $76,500 to $99,000 annually; actual compensation is based on various factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s competencies, level of experience, education, location, divisional budget and internal peer compensation comparisons.
