Site is open Monday through Friday 9 am to 7 pm and Saturdays and Sunday 9 am to 4 pm. Supervisor will work a variety of shifts through the week and every other weekend.
Major Responsibilities:
- Oversees the operations of the clinic pharmacy including ensuring quality customer service, ensuring maximum efficiency and effectiveness, and overseeing staff including providing work direction, assigning and monitoring work, and managing the schedule.
- Oversees and monitors limited insurance and third party billing functions, and clerical support functions including cashiering, stocking and inventory, bank deposits, reports, general housekeeping and appearance of the pharmacy, and merchandise displays.
- Identifies, develops, and conducts appropriate training and education to ensure staff meet and maintain skills and competencies including clinical performance, safety, and all other regulatory requirements. Ensures utilization of all resources including staffing, supplies, and equipment to ensure efficient and timely service to patients.
- Assists in developing, implementing, and maintaining policies and procedures for all pharmacy operations. Enforces system and departmental policies (ex. clinical, safety, compliance, HR) and procedures for staff.
- Effectively communicates with providers, staff, and other departments to ensure efficient and timely services for patients. Serves as a clinical resource and mentor to staff. Serves as a clinical resource contact for patients and their families. Addresses and resolves patient questions, concerns, and/or complaints.
- Responsible for interpreting and dispensing drugs in accordance with physician orders. Prepares and distributes drugs in accordance with Wisconsin Administrative Code relating to the practice of pharmacy.
- Promotes the business to develop continued growth and profitability. Participates in business development opportunities focusing on care integration tactics. Identifies, recommends, and implements performance improvement opportunities on quality, service and/or productivity.
- Assists in developing, monitoring, and operating within capital and operating budgets for area of responsibility.
- Ensures pharmacy operations meet all local, state and federal compliance and standards of practice.
- Identifies, plans, and organizes information system and technology improvements in the department. Oversees and ensures staff is trained, orientated, and competent in use of systems and programs.
- Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which includes coaching on performance, completes performance reviews and overall staff morale. Recommends hiring, compensation changes, promotions, corrective action decisions, and terminations.
- Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Pharmacist license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
Patient facing pharmacists are required to have two certifications: Immunization and non-vaccine injectable to be granted from the state of WI or if from out of state, the program is approved by the accreditation council for pharmacy education (ACPE) or by the WI pharmacy examining board.
Education Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy.
Experience Required:
- Typically requires 3 years of experience in pharmacy practice (excludes internship, clinical residency, or similar program required to complete college degree) that includes experiences in retail pharmacy operations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities including problem solving, prioritization, decision making, delegation, team building, customer service, and conflict resolution.
- Advanced level knowledge of the advances in pharmaceutical practices and understanding of health care and retail pharmacy trends.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with providers, staff and patients.
- Must be detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Life support training courses may be required dependent on department discretion.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Generally exposed to normal clinic office environment.
- May occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. without assistance.
- Must be able to stand up to 100% of workday.
- Must have functional speech, vision, and hearing.
- Will be exposed to chemical hazards; therefore must have ability to wear protective clothing as needed.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
