Job Overview
Curriculum Focus: The 5280 science teacher will design and deliver science instruction through Project-Based Learning (PBL), where students actively work on real-world projects that integrate multiple scientific disciplines. This approach encourages students to solve complex problems, collaborate, and explore concepts deeply, all while meeting the Colorado Academic Standards for science.
Responsibilities:
Teaching: Facilitate science lessons that emphasize inquiry, experimentation, and real-world problem-solving. Use PBL strategies to engage students in projects that tie together different science subjects.
Support Students: As part of the “Crew” program, the teacher will serve as a Crew Captain, providing advisement and supporting students’ social, emotional, and academic needs.
Group Work & Collaboration: Design and facilitate group work to foster collaboration, communication, and teamwork. Provide guidance on project design and execution.
Assess Student Learning: Create both formal and informal assessments that measure student progress. Give timely and constructive feedback.
Student-Centered Focus: Offer opportunities for students to have a voice and make choices in their learning. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students.
Community Engagement: Showcase student work to the broader school community and collaborate with other teachers and faculty members to enhance learning experiences.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary: $50,000 - $90,000 per year (commensurate with experience).

Qualifications:
Required: A Bachelor’s degree (preferably in a science-related field) and background check. Those without a teaching credential must meet federal ESSA requirements and hold a degree in a science-related field.
