Monday - Friday: 9am - 5:30pm
Includes 2 evenings per month (10am - 6:30pm) and 1 Saturday per month (10am - 2pm)
Bilingual preferred but not required.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assess clients' overall financial situation by reviewing income, assets, debts, expenses, credit reports, or other financial information. Assess financial status of clients. to understand a client’s current situation through analysis of their finances; discover their personal goals and prioritize the achievement of those objectives.
- Work with patient, client, and team members to develop realistic action steps and goals with educating client on money management skills and identify community resources. If appropriate, including Debt Repayment Plans.
- Contact consumers in accordance with the department follow up procedure and requested management.
- Maintains current on Department of Financial institutions (DFI) rules, Council on accreditation standards and National Foundations for Credit Counseling (NFCC).
- Maintains current Department of Financial Institution (DFI) rules, Counsel on Accreditation (COA) standards, National Foundation for Credit Counseling Standards as well as agency policies and procedures.
- Develops and maintains working knowledge and strong collaborative relationships with community agencies who can serve as potential resource providers.
- Meet counseling performance standards in the counseling department with upholding the time management protocol and guidelines. Reliability and responsiveness to counseling task schedule and department communication.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- License/Registration/Certification: Certified Consumer Credit Counselor certification issued by the National Foundation for Consumer Credit within 6 months
- Issued by (Governing Body): National Foundation of Consumer Credit
- Level of Education: Associates Degree or equivalent experience
- Field of Study: Business or Social Work
- Experience: Typically requires 3 years of experience in a financial setting
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Team player who can also work independently, excellent communication skills
- Active Listening — Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
- Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
- Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
- Good communication skills; math aptitude; experience with computers and accounting software; familiar with federal and state laws regarding lending, personal finance, and banking practices; foreign language fluency a plus
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Ability to multi-task, manage multifaceted and administrative functions in providing counseling sessions as applicable and in such areas as phone appointments, outbound call initiative, pilot program projects and assignments and third party co-op initiative
