M - F, 8:0 AM - 4:30 PM, work from home position
Major Responsibilities:- Responsible for system clinical chart forms control and management including new form creation, existing form revision, combining like forms and document type barcode assignment.
- Implement system forms standardization process to ensure that HIM principles and best practices are met. Utilize a standardized methodology for ongoing form process improvement.
- Works with clinical leadership, compliance, legal, regulatory and other operational stakeholders to ensure form standards meet HIM forms standards, and all federal, state and accreditation requirements.
- Provides guidance to form requesters for maximum form efficiency and cost savings.
- Responsible for maintaining current knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and accreditation standards; monitor and communicate changes impacting forms to ensure adaptation and compliance.
- Performs duties in a cost-efficient and cost-effective manner without compromising quality.
- Manages multiple projects simultaneously and provide timely updates to leadership regarding timeline and status of assigned tasks.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Health Information Administrator (RHIA) registration issued by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), or
- Health Information Technician (RHIT) registration issued by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), or
Education Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management or related field.
Experience Required:
- Typically requires 3 years of experience in coding, health information management and/or compliance for large complex health care systems.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Must have a process improvement mindset.
- Excellent organization, prioritization and time management skills.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of clinical and regulatory information.
- Possess knowledge in clinical terminology, medical vocabulary and classification systems.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
- Act as a positive, proactive team player.
- Demonstrate ability to function independently and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to identify and solve problems creatively and to work within deadlines with a high attention to detail.
- Strong presentation and interpersonal skills. Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language and to influence others to move towards consensus on critical decisions.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar products.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend, reach, and walk at various times throughout the workday.
- Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs frequently, and up to 40 lbs occasionally.
- Must have functional vision.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
- Exposed to a normal office environment and medical record file room.
- Position requires travel to different sites, therefore may be exposed to road and weather hazards.
- May have extended exposure to a computer monitor.
