Monday - Friday 1st shift
Major Responsibilities:- Maintains complete list of all radiographic, radiation oncology and nuclear medicine equipment throughout Aurora Health Care.
- Provides annual physics evaluation of all imaging equipment to ensure compliance with state regulatory guidelines for performance and radiation safety.
- Develops and establishes a monitoring procedure for measuring the performance level of all imaging equipment.
- Works collaboratively with site staff, technologists, physicists, and administration to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Performs routine "mock" inspections and audits of all radioactive materials, licenses, develops attestation forms, and measures conformance to all applicable state regulations for handling of radioactive materials. Prepares all sites for inspections.
- Responsible for monitoring and overseeing system wide compliance with the Physics requirements of the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA).
- Stays abreast of all state, the Joint Commission (TJC) regulations, and advises all clinical sites of regulatory changes as appropriate.
- Provides consultation for staff radiation exposure to all sites and radiation safety training as needed.
- Verifies outside physicist audits and consultations on a site-by-site basis to ensure completion of work, quality of reporting standards, and site adherence to recommendations. Acts as a liaison between Aurora and the state regulatory staff.
- Consults with the site radiation safety officers and committees. Makes recommendations according to sound radiation safety guidelines and adheres to established service standards.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Diagnostic Radiology board certification issued by the American Osteopathic Association or the American Board of Radiology.
Education Required:
- Master's Degree in Medical Physics.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Extensive travel is required.
- High level of independent work.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Must lift up to 20 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical and radiation hazards.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform job.
