Our company was created within 5AM Ventures' 4:59 Initiative in 2023. We are based in Watertown, MA with state of the art, custom lab and office space.
\n- In this newly created role, you will be tightly integrated in a cross-functional drug discovery team making substantial contributions in chemical process optimization and scale-up
- As the first hire for Process Chemistry, you’ll set the foundation for the function
- Lead the design, optimization, and scale-up of chemical processes to meet production goals while adhering to safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Propose R&D direction in optimization, develop scalable process and implement the optimized condition into manufacturing
- Conduct thorough analysis of process data, identify optimization opportunities, and implement innovative solutions to enhance process efficiency and productivity
- Design and execute experiments to troubleshoot process issues, investigate deviations, and implement corrective actions to ensure continuous improvement
- You have spent at least 10 years gaining industry experience in pharma and/or biotech, operating in a multidisciplinary drug discovery team environment
- You’ve earned your Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or Synthetic Chemistry
- You are excited about being in the lab consistently and rolling up your sleeves to contribute to drive scale-up capabilities
- Proven track record of successfully leading process optimization, scale-up, and technology transfer initiatives
- In-depth knowledge of chemical process principles, reaction kinetics, and unit operations, with hands-on experience in process modeling and simulation tools
- Experience with multi-gram synthesis utilizing flow chemistry is required
- In-depth knowledge of modern-day technologies, with a specific focus towards single-electron methodologies is preferred
- Experience coordinating and collaborating with CMC and CRO consultants
- You’re a team player first, and you’re also someone who can easily flex to work independently to conduct research

- You have a track record of scientific vigor and creativity in carrying out research
