We are seeking a Metrology Specialist to join IQVIA Laboratories at our Durham, NC laboratory.

The Metrology Specialist is responsible for performing scheduled and unscheduled qualifications, calibration, preventative maintenance, and repair tasks in support of typical analytical and process instrumentation used in the laboratory.

What You’ll be Doing:

  • Install and qualify new equipment, instrumentation, and controlling software according to standard operating procedures.

  • Perform preventative maintenance on analytical instruments and/or coordinate necessary maintenance with external vendors.

  • Maintain life cycle documentation of equipment and instrumentation in accordance with applicable SOPs.

  • Perform calibration and/or verification of validated instrumentation according to SOP requirements, inclusive of appropriate documentation.

  • Troubleshoot equipment and instrumentation, identify new equipment needs, and coordinate procurement efforts.

  • Repair and/or coordinate repair of disabled analytical instruments and laboratory equipment to ensure minimal downtime.

  • Establish Preventative Maintenance (PM) programs for new analytical instruments and laboratory equipment.

  • Maintain an accurate inventory of instruments, consumables, and spare parts.

What We are Looking For:

  • Associate's Degree in electronics or mechanical technology or a closely related field.

  • 1 year experience in a laboratory environment.

  • Hands-on experience in calibration and repair of measuring and test equipment.

  • Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office, and Word, with an emphasis on Excel.

  • Experience in troubleshooting laboratory equipment and resolving process issues.

  • Effective organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Other equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed for This Role:

  • Proficiency with pipetting techniques.

  • Understanding of functional area and responsibilities.

  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards within the area of responsibility, such as Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

  • Knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control procedures and practices, including standard precautions and hazardous chemical handling.

  • Experience working with automation or specialized laboratory equipment.

  • Proficiency with routine and non-routine laboratory calculations regarding batches and specimens.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Effective communication and presentation skills.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $55,500.00 - $92,500.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.

Salary : $55,500 - $92,500
