Reporting into the Operations Manager, the Production Supervisor will be based out of New Johnsonville, Tennessee and will be responsible for assisting with the overall operational responsibilities for our New Johnsonville chemical facility, which reinforces great safety and quality practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate employees to maximize productivity and minimize operating costs.
- Coach, counsel, train and develop employee skills.
- Review work schedules and production schedules for optimum results.
- Ensure that products are produced at an acceptable quality level.
- Drive department compliance with established safety, training and ensure compliance with all company policies, plant rules and all regulatory agencies.
- Facilitates operations training and qualification process.
- Maximizes operational efficiency by ensuring that units run in optimal operating conditions to maximize product yields.
- Participate in and lead LEAN manufacturing activities as needed.
- Conduct routine safety and sanitation inspections to promote employee safety and good housekeeping.
- Schedule production for the plant’s product circuits.
- Manages productivity and efficiencies using metrics and continuous improvement protocol.
- Fills in for Operations Manager when needed.
- Ability to work a swing shift.
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Conducts yearly performance reviews for subordinates in accordance with Company policy.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
- 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong Computer Skills
- Knowledge of inventory systems, quality systems, OSHA & EPA requirements, and ERP
- Effective communication skills to liaise with team members, management, and other departments.
- Experience in managing resources efficiently, including labor, materials, and equipment.
- Commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement, with a focus on optimizing processes and enhancing productivity.
- Prior experience promoting and maintaining a safe working environment, with knowledge of safety protocols and regulations.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and prioritize tasks in a dynamic production environment.
Preferred Experience
- Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline
- Experience leading in a union environment
- Lean Six Sigma Certification
