Manufacturing Shift Supervisor - 1st Shift (7a-7p)
The Manufacturing Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the operations of a manufacturing shift, ensuring the production of high-quality products in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner. This position involves direct supervision of a team of operators and technicians, ensuring adherence to production schedules, safety standards, and company policies. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, an understanding of manufacturing processes, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities :
Supervise and coordinate the activities of production staff on the assigned shift to meet daily production goals and schedules.
Ensure production processes are running efficiently, safely, and within quality standards.Monitor production output, resolve any production issues, and ensure minimal downtime.Ensure that all equipment is properly operated and maintained during the shift.Team Leadership & Development :Lead, coach, and mentor a team of machine operators, assemblers, and technicians, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Provide regular feedback and conduct performance reviews for team members.Ensure all staff members are adequately trained on equipment, procedures, and safety protocols.Maintain a high level of morale and team engagement, addressing issues promptly and effectively.Quality Assurance :Ensure adherence to product quality specifications, conducting inspections, audits, and testing as necessary.
Address quality deviations, ensuring corrective actions are taken in a timely manner.Implement and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.Safety & Compliance :Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards, promoting a safety-first culture.
Monitor and enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.Conduct safety audits, identify hazards, and implement corrective actions to maintain a safe work environment.Report and investigate any accidents, injuries, or near misses.Performance Monitoring & Reporting :Track and report production metrics, including output, quality, downtime, and efficiency, ensuring targets are met.
Assist in analyzing production data to identify areas for improvement.Prepare shift reports for senior management, highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational issues.Problem-Solving & Continuous Improvement :Address operational and equipment issues as they arise, ensuring minimal impact on production.
Implement and support continuous improvement programs, such as Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma, to optimize production processes.Collaborate with other departments, including Maintenance and Engineering, to resolve technical issues and improve equipment reliability.Inventory & Materials Management :Ensure that materials and components are available for production and that inventory is properly managed during the shift.
Monitor and control waste, ensuring efficient use of raw materials.Qualifications :
Education & Experience :High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree or technical certification in manufacturing, industrial engineering, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems is a must.Skills :Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage, motivate, and develop a diverse team.Proficiency in using manufacturing software and Microsoft Office Suite.Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.Knowledge of safety standards, quality control, and regulatory compliance.Certifications (Preferred) :Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement certifications are a plus.
First Aid and CPR certification are advantageous.Physical Demands :Ability to stand, walk, and lift items as needed.
