Robotics Engineer

Key Role:

Support the research and development of multi-agent teams of robotic systems across multiple operational domains and mission areas. Function at the intersection of software and hardware to design, build, test, and demonstrate new autonomy capabilities that address complex client problems. Apply leading-edge principles, theories, and concepts, and contribute to the development of new principles and concepts. Serve on an interdisciplinary team conducting research and development of novel autonomy solutions for DoD clients. Work on complex problems and provide highly innovative solutions as part of an engineering team.

Basic Qualifications:

• 1 year of experience with robotics or systems engineering for equipment hardware or software

• Knowledge of Robot Operating Systems (ROS), including the development of custom messages, nodes, packages, or stacks

• Knowledge of software maintenance and deployment, including version control, CI/CD, packaging, containerization, and documentation

• Knowledge of backend software development in C for embedded Linux systems

• Knowledge of algorithms and software for mobile robot sensing, perception, localization, navigation, and behaviors in aerial or ground domains

• Ability to effectively communicate complex technical topics to a variety of audiences in written and verbal formats

• Secret clearance

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, or Physics

Additional Qualifications:

• Experience with developing architectures and algorithms for multi-agent, distributed collaborative autonomy

• Experience with Python

• Experience with Docker image development and container deployment

• Experience with Git-based version control and branch or tag strategies

• Knowledge of military strategy, operations, and tactics

• Ability to develop strategy for internal research and development efforts to support reaching specific business goals

• Ability to lead a technical team in strategy, project planning, and project execution

• Ability to professionally interact with clients to understand their needs, recommend courses of action, and present or demonstrate results 

• Master’s degree in CS or Engineering

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $75,600.00 to $172,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
