Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Chief Estimator located in Hartford, CT. The Chief Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for various construction projects. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing project plans and specifications, conducting site visits, soliciting and negotiating sub-contractor and supplier quotes, and collaborating with project managers to ensure accurate budgeting and cost control throughout the project lifecycle. Additionally, the Chief Estimator will be responsible for maintaining relationships with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in estimating software, project management software, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills
- Experience in reviewing and understanding construction drawings and specifications
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred
- Experience in general contracting, construction management, design-build, or similar roles is advantageous
- Knowledge of construction safety standards and building codes is a plus
