This position will be in charge of preparation and sterilization of culture media, reagents, and test equipment.

Essential duties and responsibilities

• Preparation of microbial test supplies to include: maintaining adequate inventory of culture media, reagents, and other solutions as well as QC testing of these preparations when applicable. Also, preparation of test equipment such as filtration devices, scissors, forceps, glassware, etc.
• Operation and user maintenance of purified water system, steam sterilizer, media dispenser, pH meter, and other equipment as necessary
• Maintenance of all incubator monitoring equipment
• Decontamination and cleaning of used glassware
• General housekeeping in the laboratory such as cleaning and disinfection of lab benches, clean rooms, hoods, incubators, refrigerators, etc.
• Limited lab testing such as BI enumeration, BI testing, and environmental monitoring.
   

Qualifications

• Good organizational skills
• Ability to understand OSHA requirements, QSR, GLP, ISO, AAMI, and FDA Guidelines, as well as any other regulations/requirements as they pertain to the laboratory
• Must be able to perform daily duties with little incidence of error, since errors may have severe regulatory/financial consequences
   

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High school education or equivalent.
• Must have high initiative to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
