**Job-Specific Position Duties:**

The responsibilities of the Healthcare Worker (HCW) encompass, but are not limited to, the following duties:
The Contractor is tasked with delivering anesthesia support services throughout the medical center, in alignment with surgical and medical procedures requiring anesthesia.
All anesthesia services must be performed in accordance with the established standards of the Joint Commission, the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians, and the policies of the Department of the Navy's Bureau of Medicine and Surgery. The Contractor shall provide qualified personnel capable of executing a comprehensive range of duties pertinent to their profession, including but not limited to the following: Personnel are responsible for preparing anesthesia equipment in each operating room prior to the commencement of scheduled surgical procedures.
This includes, but is not limited to, low-level disinfection according to policy and procedure, as well as the setup of anesthesia machines, breathing circuits, a diverse array of patient monitors, suction devices, and other necessary disposable or reusable equipment.
The HCW is required to maintain a standard anesthesia "Blue Bell" cart, ensuring that all essential drugs and supplies are readily available to anesthesia providers for use in various locations within the facility.
Following the completion of surgical cases, the HCW shall remove all specialized and reusable equipment and is responsible for cleaning equipment and working areas in accordance with hospital infection control policies aimed at preventing disease transmission.
The HCW must set up and initiate intravenous (IV) lines as directed and supervised by credentialed practitioners. The setup of IV lines and pressure lines for specialty cases, including central venous pressure, arterial, and pulmonary artery catheters, as well as the calibration of cardiac output equipment catheters, will be performed in conjunction with assisting anesthesia providers in the placement of various invasive monitors, which includes central venous catheters, pulmonary artery catheters, and arterial lines.
This task requires a comprehensive understanding of sterile techniques.
Additionally, personnel will be tasked with performing laboratory tests in designated specialty cases as agreed upon by Anesthesia and Laboratory Services.
The HCW must be available to respond promptly to requests for anesthesia supplies and equipment during ongoing surgical cases.
This necessitates a careful and measured response to a wide array of requests, often in high-pressure and urgent situations. When working in offsite locations, such as the Pain Medicine center, the HCW may also be required to restock medical supplies and consumables utilized in the clinic.
Personnel are expected to develop a thorough knowledge of equipment, including, but not limited to, anesthesia machines, electronic monitoring systems, optical diagnostic devices, and apparatus used in the Pain Medicine clinic.
This knowledge is essential for conducting basic quality control and troubleshooting of the aforementioned equipment.
The HCW must understand and operate the auto transfusion machine (cell saver) and related equipment in both scheduled and emergency surgical cases. Furthermore, the HCW must be capable of responding to remote areas of the medical center in a timely manner, including but not limited to medical emergencies, diagnostic radiology suites, and out-of-OR anesthesia sites.
Additionally, personnel must demonstrate a willingness to undertake other anesthesia-related responsibilities as required, which may include providing support to the department's mission in various offsite locations.
The HCW must adhere to hospital infection control policies designed to prevent disease transmission and ensure that generated medical waste and trash are disposed of in accordance with established policies and procedures. Personnel are also expected to maintain professional competence through active engagement in independent study, as well as participation in cross-training, in-service training sessions, seminars, symposiums, grand rounds, and collaborative dialogues with colleagues.
The HCW should actively train and collaborate with rotating and newly appointed personnel to ensure patient safety while disseminating new practices and workflows.
The HCW is required to maintain active security clearance in accordance with the medical treatment facility's regulations to access computer systems and IT-related software, including but not limited to Email, CHCS, AHLTA, Essentris, and MHS Genesis. It is essential for the HCW to maintain and update required documentation, including but not limited to daily Code Cart/Bags checks, daily room/offsite location stocking checklists/reports, and training reports.
The HCW must be capable of providing services that entail prolonged periods of continuous activity and may involve working in constrained spaces while other operating equipment is in use.
Additionally, personnel must be able to transport heavy anesthesia equipment to and from remote locations within the hospital and assist with patient transport. Finally, personnel should be prepared to provide services that expose them to contagious and potentially fatal diseases, including but not limited to HIV and Hepatitis, through patient contact. HCWs may frequently be exposed to elevated radiation levels from diagnostic radiology equipment.

**Minimum Qualifications:** *
**Education:** A minimum of a high school diploma is required.
* **Experience:** Candidates must possess at least five years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician or Technologist.
* **Certification:** Preference will be given to those with ASATT certification, though it is not mandatory.
* **Life Support Certifications:** Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
* **Security Clearance:**
Applicants must successfully pass a government background check and obtain government security clearance.
