- TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Log in for self-dispatching or contact the dispatch department to obtain information regarding the initial case load.
- Arrive at the first case at the commencement of the assigned shift or depart from home at least thirty (30) minutes prior.
- Unload portable sonographic equipment and bring it into facilities to perform examinations as ordered by the physician, ensuring the acquisition of clinically diagnostic and technically competent images.
- Perform and process ultrasound examinations using portable sonographic equipment and transmit the results digitally to a radiologist for interpretation.
- Upon completion of assigned cases, check voicemail messages from each client’s facility, or at a minimum, every thirty (30) minutes as necessary.
- Monitor available cases through the self-dispatching system and / or report to the dispatcher on duty every thirty (30) minutes as needed. - Adhere to the company uniform policy, wear the provided name tag, and comply with the company dress code.
- Carry the company-issued phone at all times. - Respond to all urgent communications within fifteen (15) minutes.
- Attend meetings as required. - Upon arriving at the facility, meticulously verify that all orders are accurate against the examinations listed in the patient’s chart as specified by the physician. If the orders in the chart differ or if there are no orders documented, the examination must not proceed until the appropriate order is duly recorded in the chart to align with the examination indicated on the requisition.
- It is the responsibility of the technologist to ensure the correct patient is being examined by requesting two patient identifiers, such as the patient's name and date of birth. Avoid Yes / No questions during this process. If the patient is unable to confirm their identity, the nurse in charge of the patient must provide identification. The nurse's name should be documented on the requisition as well as in the technologist's comments in the verification screen.
- Facility staff shall conduct any required patient transfers, support, positioning, and / or assistance. Technologists are not to engage in patient transfers or assistance activities.
- The sonographer must have medical physical examinations and TB screenings conducted at the time of hire and annually thereafter, along with annual infection control in-service training. Documentation and results of such examinations / tests must be submitted to the Human Resources Department within two (2) weeks following the conclusion of the associate’s last annual examination.
- Scan examination-related paperwork and billing on a daily basis following established protocols.
- Communicate effectively and maintain professionalism with the call center, dispatch, peers, supervisory staff, and clients.
- Maintain the vehicle and sonographic equipment in good working order. - Uphold a high standard of medical ethics at all times and engage in self-motivated efforts to enhance knowledge and understanding of the field, diseases, and emerging procedures.
- Sonographers utilizing company-owned, leased, or rented vehicles are accountable for all motor vehicle citations, including parking and speeding violations.
- Report any changes in criminal background and comply with the drug-free workplace policy as outlined in the Associate Handbook. - Conduct oneself in a professional and ethical manner according to the organization’s
Code of Conduct.
