What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgical Technologist (CST) position at 77 Consultants?
Key Responsibilities:
- Function as a member of the sterile team in various surgical procedures.
- Prepare the operating room, including opening supplies, performing surgical scrubs, and setting up equipment.
- Assist with draping and establishing sterile fields.
- Anticipate the surgeon's needs by passing instruments, sutures, and other required items.
- Maintain a sterile environment using strict aseptic techniques.
- Perform needle and sponge counts with the circulating nurse.
- Share on-call rotation with other staff members (compensation includes $4.00/hour on call and a minimum of 2-hours pay at time and a half if called in).
Schedule & Compensation:
- Full-Time: 80 hours per pay period.
- Work Hours: 6:30 am - 5:00 pm.
- Call Schedule: 1 day/week and 1 weekend/month.
- Shift Differential:
- Evening Shift (3:00 pm – 11:30 pm) = 8%
- Night Shift (11:00 pm – 7:30 am) = 11%
- No weekend differential
Minimum Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist course.
- Surgical Technologist Certification (CST) is preferred at the time of employment, required within 6 months of hire.
- At least 2-3 years of acute care hospital-based operating room experience (Ortho, Neuro & General Surgery).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- In-depth knowledge of surgical principles, procedures, and sterile techniques.
