The Electronics Technician performs basic diagnosis repairs and modifications to electronics systems. Performs the required periodic maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, installations, and testing of equipment as required. Assist other Technicians in the setup, maintenance, and storage of airfield systems and deep-field camp systems that support aviation operations and weather observing.
This position deploys to McMurdo Station, Antarctica to conduct work locally. The United States Antarctica Program requires all personnel deploying to Antarctica to pass a physical qualification.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to obtain a T1 Clearance through the government customer.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Monitors and reports on system readiness, capabilities, limitations, and reliability. Document and archive maintenance actions.
Ensures work center safety and equipment verification; maintain tool inventory and CPR certification.
Submits repair requests, maintain equipment logs and certifications, and manage spare parts inventory.
Calibrates and repairs sensors, test equipment, and support NAVAIDS, communications, and meteorology systems.
Adheres to configuration, security, and frequency management policies and procedures.
Provides 24/7 maintenance support, prepare reports on incidents, system outages, and operational availability.
Setup, maintain, and repair of all NAVAIDS and communications systems; ensure proper equipment installation and compliance with frequency management.
Setup, maintain, and repair of all meteorology systems, and perform maintenance at remote locations.
Attends safety training, maintains a safe work area, and engages in self-development through available training.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Laborer:
High School Diploma or GED. Performs tasks that require mainly physical abilities and effort involving little or no specialized skill. The following tasks are typical of this occupation: Loads and unloads trucks, and other conveyances; moves supplies and materials to proper location by wheelbarrows or hand trucks; stacks materials for storage or binning; collects refuse and salvable materials. Digs, fills, and tamps earth excavations; levels ground using pick, shovel, tamper and rake; shovels concrete and snow; cleans culverts and ditches; cuts trees and brush. Must be able to move and arrange heavy pieces of electronic equipment, office furniture, and appliances; pull outdoor cable; climb structures; use heavy-duty tools; and if properly trained, operate light machinery and equipment.
Electronics Technician Maintenance I:
High School diploma or GED and Formal electronics training from a Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications, or two (2) year electronics apprentice program. Formal electronics training, to include: Installation Tasks, Soldering, Cable Dressing, Cable Tray, Conduit, and Making/Repairing Connectors. Two (2) years of practical experience, to include: electronics repair, maintenance and checkout. Must demonstrate at least one (1) year of practical experience in electronics installation. Experience may be achieved simultaneously.
Electronics Technician Maintenance II:
High School diploma or GED and Formal electronics training from a Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications, or four (4) year electronics apprentice program. Formal electronics training, to include: Installation Tasks, Soldering, Cable Dressing, Cable Tray, Conduit, and Making/Repairing Connectors. Four (4) years of practical experience, to include: electronics repair, maintenance and checkout. Must demonstrate at least one (1) year of practical experience in electronics installation. Experience may be achieved simultaneously.
Electronics Technician III Maintenance:
High School diploma or GED and Formal electronics training from a Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications, or four (4) year electronics apprentice program. Formal electronics training, to include: Installation Tasks, Soldering, Cable Dressing, Cable Tray, Conduit, and Making/Repairing Connectors. Eight (8) years of practical experience, to include: Electronics Repair, Maintenance, Installation and Checkout. Two (2) years of experience, to include: supervision, and shop practices. Three (3) years of practical experience, to include: electronics repair and installation. Experience may be achieved simultaneously.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical ability to stand and or walk frequently. May climb on a ladder or scaffolding to heights in excess of 10’. Bend/stoop, push/pull and work above the shoulder frequently. Occasionally balance, kneel, crouch, and squat. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 65lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The estimated pay range for this role is $24 to $36 per hour, with the final offer contingent on location, skillset, and experience.
