The Mechanical Engineer II designs, analyzes, and maintains mechanical components and systems to meet specified requirements and standards. Utilizes technical instruments to develop specifications for new parts, modifications, or prototypes. Identifies appropriate materials and processes to ensure the quality, performance, and manufacturability of products. Utilizes CAD software and other design and modeling tools to plan, develop, and improve mechanical parts or components and communicate conceptual designs and specifications to stakeholders. Conducts prototype testing to evaluate the performance, reliability, and safety of mechanical systems and collects and analyzes data for improvements. Analyzes and troubleshoots mechanical issues or failures to identify root causes and develop solutions. This full time position is 100% on-site in the Daleville, AL area. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship. May be required, including but not limited to, experience in photometry/radiometry, electro-optics, optical engineering, acoustical engineering, applied mathematics (e.g., linear systems analysis), and computer programming (e.g., MATLAB, C , machine vision, AI or expert systems development). Bachelor's degree with three to six (3-6) years of experience. Master’s degree with one to five (1-5( years of experience KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Creates designs and documentation to facilitate the manufacture of products including drawings, bills of material, material specifications and design files. Identifies appropriate materials and processes to ensure the quality, performance, and manufacturability of products. Develops and maintains engineering designs, calculations, processes and procedures. Participates in testing and validation of prototypes and final products. Collects and analyzes data from prototype testing for improvements. Interfaces with designers and other engineers in team environment. Documents findings and prepare reports on project progress and results. Contributes to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering team. Provides technical support and guidance to manufacturing and production teams. Develops project schedule to meet deadlines. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree with three to six (3-6) years of experience. Master’s degree with one to five (1-5) years of experience PHYSICAL DEMANDS Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear.
