The Part-Time Research and Development (R&D) SME (Subject Matter Expert) is a senior-level position within the R&D department at the United States Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory (USAARL). Provides specialized expertise and knowledge in a specific area of research or technology, guides and supports the organization's R&D efforts. May also be involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and decision-making related to R&D projects within their area of expertise. This part-time position is required to be on-site in the Daleville, AL area.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Secret clearance required and must be maintained.
A minimum of a Master’s degree, PhD preferred, with published Board Certified Medical Research and a minimum of ten plus (10 ) years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
Must have extensive knowledge and expertise in their specialized area of research or technology with a deep understanding of scientific principles, advanced analytical skills, and the ability to solve complex problems.
Excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Serves as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert in a specific area of research or technology.
Provides technical guidance, mentorship, and support to R&D teams or project teams.
Conducts in-depth research and analysis to stay updated with the latest advancements and trends in the field.
Designs and executes complex experiments or studies related to the specialized area.
Analyzes and interprets data using advanced statistical or technical methods.
Develops and optimizes processes, methodologies, or technologies specific to the area of expertise.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
Writes technical reports, research papers, or patent applications related to the specialized area.
Presents research findings or providing expert insights to internal stakeholders, external partners, or at conferences.
Contributes to the development of intellectual property through invention disclosures or patent filings.
Provides training and knowledge transfer to other team members or departments.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The estimated pay range for this role is $110K to $115K per hour, with the final offer contingent on location, skillset, and experience.
