Development Project Manager

Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and results-driven Development Project Manager to oversee and execute commercial real estate development projects from inception to completion. This role is critical in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with company objectives. The Development Project Manager will be responsible for managing project schedules, risk mitigation, budgets, construction oversight, and landlord/sale obligations while fostering a culture of accountability and excellence within the team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Deadlines / Schedule Management
- Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring all milestones are met.
- Monitor and track progress, proactively identifying and resolving delays.
- Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, and external stakeholders to keep projects on track.
2. Due Diligence / Risk Management
- Oversee all due diligence activities, including environmental, title, zoning, and entitlements.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks proactively.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and contractual obligations.
3. Budget Management
- Establish and maintain project budgets, ensuring financial targets are met.
- Work with estimating and finance teams to track costs and manage budget reconciliations.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or timelines.
4. Construction Management
- Serve as the primary liaison between the company and general contractors.
- Monitor construction progress, ensuring projects adhere to plans, specifications, and quality standards.
- Address construction-related challenges in collaboration with internal and external teams.
5. Landlord / Sale Management
- Ensure all landlord obligations under leases are met in a timely manner.
- Oversee project closeout processes to facilitate smooth property sales or handovers.
- Work with legal and finance teams to ensure all required deliverables are completed for sales transactions.
6. Culture & Team Leadership
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as a mentor and resource for junior development staff.
- Uphold company values and maintain strong relationships with partners, clients, and team members.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Construction Management, Business, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in commercial real estate development or project management.
- Strong understanding of permitting, entitlements, construction, and financial analysis.
- Exceptional problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
