Our client, a lobbying and educational organization which focuses on environmental issues, is looking for a Grants Officer to join their dynamic, fun, and high-performing team. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Institutional Giving, the Grants Officer will serve as an essential member of the Philanthropy team, focused on new and existing grants for two entities, developing fundraising proposals, and cultivating relationships with grantors.
This organization operates on a 4-day work week, Monday-Thursday. They are hybrid (2 days in-office) and can be based out of either Oakland, Sacramento, Fresno, San Bernardino, or Los Angeles.
Responsibilities
- Manage and own the entire grants management process, including writing and submitting proposals, researching data for funding requests, stewardship, and reports
- Manage a portfolio of 15-25 donors
- Cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships
- Lead stewardship meetings, solicitations, and renewal negotiations
- Prepare thoughtful and strategic program pitches based on deep funder research
- Develop a deep and clear understanding of the organization’s programs, goals, and financial needs in order to develop compelling proposals
- Work proactively with other departments to adhere to all programmatic and fiscal reporting requirements stipulated in grants
- Ensure funding agreements are finalized, signed, and payments are received in a timely manner
Requirements
- Five years or more of grant and contracts management or related project management experience in fundraising in the non-profit environment
- Strength in delivering oral and written pitches and conducting negotiations with funders
- Direct donor engagement experience with and expertise in consistent and effective funder stewardship
- An understanding of the grant lifecycle process and knowledge of grant writing (craft, construct, and submit an effective grant application) and grant making techniques, current trends, and best practices
- Demonstrated skill in crafting persuasive cases for support
- Ability to interpret grant requirements
- Passionate about protecting the environment, racial justice and equity, and making meaningful social change
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programs and donor management software/CRMs such as Raiser’s Edge/RENXT is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Environmental Science or Studies, Political Science or Public Policy, Communications or English, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration or another relevant field helpful, but not required
- Familiarity with Community Centric Fundraising principles preferred
Base: $80k-95k DOE benefits
Salary : $80,000 - $95,000
