Essential duties & responsibilities:
- The principal manufacturing engineer is responsible for managing a small team for the research, development, purchasing, planning, implementation, and validation of new or upgraded equipment
- systems.
- The principal engineer is responsible in assuring that the engineering team under his/her responsibility is in compliance to all regulatory requirements – FDA, OSHA, OFCCP, EPA, etc.
- The principal engineer is also responsible to make sure that all the team under his/her responsibility follow and adhere to all environmental, health and safety SOPs with respect to equipment, policies and procedures, including any process specific requirements.
- The position requires that the principal engineer has people / project management skills, together with problem solving techniques and competences that can thus assist manufacturing to address problems impacting manufacturing (e.g., Quality defects) or to make improvements with existing designs and systems.
- The position also requires the incumbent to have good interpersonal and communicational skills.
- The principal engineer will also be required to interact with support functions to ensure that the above objectives/performance can be achieved. This will generally relate to most of the other entities of the plant i.e., distribution, maintenance, R&D, global engineering, logistics, planning and finance.
- In conclusion to the above, the role of the principal engineer is to guide his/her team to support plant-wide strategic plan programs and activities.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Relevant technical discipline, including a degree in engineering with a broad background in process development or applied engineering and the utilization of analytical instrumentation in test methods and process engineering.
- Good knowledge of: Product development stages and life cycle management: development, stability, clinical,
- registration, process transfer, production, suppliers, customer service.
- Statistical Analysis and/or Lean/Six Sigma tools.
- International/regional/national regulations and standards.
- Able to work with Microsoft Projects
- Ability to lead a team by having good organizational skills and people management skills
Education and experience
- 5-7 years related experience
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in Engineering
