Overview
The Forklift Operator plays a critical role in maintaining the efficiency and safety of an outdoor lumberyard. This position involves operating a sit-down forklift to move, stack, load, and unload lumber and building materials. The operator ensures that materials are handled with care to prevent damage while supporting the smooth operations of the yard.
Key Responsibilities :
- Material Handling :
Safely load and unload lumber and building materials from trucks or other vehicles using a sit-down forklift.
Operate the forklift in compliance with safety protocols and operational procedures.
Assist with inventory counts by accurately recording material movements.
Assist drivers by locating, loading and unloading requested materials.
Adhere to all company and OSHA safety guidelines.
Schedule : Monday through Friday 6 : 00 am to 2 : 30 pm with an increase in hours and eventual Saturdays during the peak season.
Pay : $19 / hr monthly incentives up to $400

Responsibilities
Train in all areas of the Yard Department to include operating various types of mobile and fixed equipment including forklifts, and loaders. Training includes required hours for each job position and practical test to be a qualified operator.
Interpret all operational procedures and parameters, including Job Safety Analysis and Work Instructions.
Perform additional duties as needed.
Recommends improvements to make the workplace safer for self and others.
Demonstrates dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs.
Works well with team members or independently; gives and receives feedback in a constructive manner.
Qualifications
Able to read and write in their primary language.
Organizational skills
Basic math skills
84 Components Fork Truck License
Makes timely and sound decisions; uses resources wisely.
Displays a positive, can-do attitude; maintains composure when faced with difficult situations.
