Position Summary: The Sous Chef will be responsible for managing a specific department within the kitchen, and the entire kitchen operation in the absence of the Executive Sous Chef and/or Executive Chef. The ideal Sous Chef will accomplish their tasks by monitoring the daily functions of the culinary department, including providing support and guidance to the culinary team, ending in a positive guest experience.
Detailed Description:
- Plan, direct, and supervise food preparation and cooking activities.
- Ensure proper safety and sanitation of all kitchen facilities and equipment.
- Assist with determining how food should be presented, and create decorative food displays.
- Develop and implement creative menu items that adhere to Hyatt brand standards.
- Analyze recipes to assign prices to menu items, based on food, labor, and overhead costs.
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing special events and holiday functions.
- Monitor food production, ordering, cost, and quality and consistency on a daily basis.
- Check the quantity and quality of received products.
- Manage hourly culinary colleagues through scheduling, training, coaching, evaluating and hiring.
- Coach the team towards achieving exceptional guest service and employee satisfaction results.
- Assist with implementation and maintaining quality standards.
- Abide by all organizational policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
- Skills and knowledge of kitchen operations
- A true desire to exceed guest expectations in a fast-paced customer service environment
- Capable of producing a consistent product in a timely manner
- Culinary education and/or on the job training, hotel experience preferred
- Must be able to work independently and in a team environment
