Position Summary:
The Plant Food Safety, Quality, and Sanitation (FSQS) Manager is responsible for managing all programs related to food safety, quality, and sanitation for the facility. This position assists Operations in the identification and implementation of quality and food safety improvements as well as assists Engineering in the identification and implementation of structural and mechanical designs to support food safety and GMP practices. Assures compliance with applicable quality, food safety, sanitation, and regulatory standards. Support, implement, and maintain food safety, quality and sanitation practices as required through GFSI programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership in the development, communication, training, execution, and verification/validation of all site food safety, quality, and sanitation systems.
- Ensures compliance to all regulatory, customer, and corporate Leads and participates in regulatory, customer, third party and internal audits. Provides leadership in the development, training and maintenance of the plant food safety, quality and sanitation (FSQS) programs.
- Analyze and communicate quality and food safety issues, consumer complaints, and initiate applicable corrective measures.
- Responsible for developing and monitoring plant sanitation and product safety programs to ensure a safe and wholesome product supply; Define standards and best practices for effectively and efficiently completing sanitation activities.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams on a proactive and ad hoc basis to identify and provide practical and compliant solutions to quality and food safety issues.
- Act as the primary contact for internal and external customers and oversees investigation of consumer and customer complaints and their written communication of findings.
- Lead teams through product recall and withdrawal management process.
- Takes primary responsibility of managing and mitigating risk and complying with all Food Safety, Quality and Sanitation policies and procedures for all Capex projects. Coordinate the activities of engineers and contractors during construction activities.

Education, Experience & Certifications Required:
- Must have a bachelor’s degree in food-related field (example: Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry).
- Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) certification required.
- 4 years’ quality and/or food safety experience.
- 3 years’ direct leadership/people management experience.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Experience with FDA/USDA
- Comprehensive knowledge of GFSI
- Demonstrated problem solver with ability to implement effective solutions.
- Strong organizational, strategic planning, communication, and presentation skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
