8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including pasta, peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings’ private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. (“THL”), a private equity firm.
Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
Our MRO Buyer purchases all materials and services and performs the necessary day-to-day purchasing activities required to support manufacturing and maintenance operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist Manufacturing and Engineering departments in the procurement of quotes for materials and services.
- Works with vendors to assure an uninterrupted source of parts to support the production and equipment needs of operations.
- Proactively seeks out new vendors who can offer services and parts at cost effective prices.
- Responsible for organizing and maintaining the inventory within Maintenance Connect.
- Maintains purchasing files including purchase orders, requisitions, receiving documents and technical data.
- Complete accounting functions for maintenance department including: PO issuance and processing, and reconcile Maintenance Connect and JDE variances.
- Is knowledgeable of all purchasing functional requirements and backs up the other Storeroom Coordinator(s) when they are unavailable.
- Assures that incorrect parts, used core parts, etc. are returned for credit in a timely manner.
- Works with vendors to ensure that shipping costs are minimized through proper planning and vendor inventory of parts.
- Schedule daily vendor pickups and deliveries.
- Generate Purchase Orders as required from approved work orders (Maintenance Connect). Use Maintenance Connect to drive KPI results.
- Review invoices against Purchase Order lines for correctness and process for accounting payment (JDE / Maintenance Connect).
- Process Purchase Order returns upon receipt of RGA (Return Goods Authorization) from the vendor (Maintenance Connect).
- Review the daily Maintenance Connect auto reordering. Adjust inventory levels and reorder materials as required (Maintenance Connect).
- Enter new inventory items into Maintenance Connect.
- Make the necessary entries, on a timely basis, to keep the current the status of those work orders that are assigned to the MRO team. within Maintenance Connect.
- Maintain the Supplier insurance certificate repository and documentation
- Other duties Partner with company leadership to proactively identify and execute on continuous improvement opportunities in the areas of: safety, food safety, quality, productivity, and sanitation.
- Provides leadership and oversight to Storeroom Coordinator(s), ensuring efficient operations, adherence to inventory management protocols, and alignment with organizational goals. Facilitates training, performance evaluations, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance team productivity.
- Other duties, as assigned by Plant leadership.
Education and Experience Required:
- HS Diploma or GED Equivalent from an accredited institution
- Previous experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime, as needed
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
- 2 years manufacturing and/or purchasing experience
- Works well with a team and independently
- Manages time efficiently
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills and pays close attention to detail
- Can employ basic math skills
- Effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrates professional and polite demeanor with customers
- Experience with Material Requirement Planning (MRP) systems such as SAP or JDE
- Supervisory experience managing a team of at least two direct reports
