This position is for an Armed Security Patrol Officer Sergeant (ASPO SGT hereafter) and the hours/shifts may vary. The officer may be requested to assist in emergencies or shift coverage of security based upon additional security training or certification needs.

As an ASPO SGT, you are responsible for ensuring safety and security for static sites, client sites, patrol officers, and vehicle operations. You would be responsible for overseeing both Static Officers and Patrol Officers as well as work Patrol and/or Static Shifts. This position includes working with Agency Equipment i.e. vehicle, body camera, laptop, etc. and keeping them tidy, clean, and in good working order.

To thrive in this position, you must have solid customer service and interpersonal skills, be comfortable working with and learning new technology, be able to de-escalate tense individuals, and remain calm, level headed, and self-controlled in all types of emergencies.

Security Officer Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Clean background with no criminal convictions.
  • No traffic accidents or moving violations within past 3 years.
  • Physical strength and fitness.
  • Clean cut appearance and grooming standards required.
  • Strict moral and ethical code of integrity and honesty.
  • Minimum 3-5 prior experience as a Security Guard.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Great administrative skills and ability to complete required paperwork/reports.
  • Ability to operate security systems and emergency equipment.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work alone with limited supervision as well as to be a team player.
  • Ability to follow instructions from supervisors and to respect the Chain of Command.
  • Ability to solve problems as they arise.
  • Ability to react appropriately in stressful situations and to use de-escalation techniques.
  • Good understanding of legal guidelines for area security and public safety.
  • Ability to submit daily electronic reports.
  • Outstanding surveillance and observation skills.
  • Trained in First Aid/BLS and self-defense (training is provided if needed).
  • Trained in legal Use of Force (training is also provided).
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Good time-management skills.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Armed guard card or ability to obtain armed guard certification.
  • 3-5 of experience as an Armed Guard.
  • Prior military, law enforcement, or armed security experience.

Security Officer Duties:

  • Patrolling and monitoring activities on Client properties and other premises regularly to discourage criminal activity and ensure the environment is safe and secure.
  • Evicting trespassers and violators and detaining suspects/perpetrators while following legal protocols before relevant authorities arrive to take over.
  • Cooperating/working with law enforcement in documenting criminal complaints and transferring custody of detained and/or arrested suspects.
  • Providing detailed reports on daily activities and any incidents that may have occurred to client management and security supervisors.
  • Inspect and patrol premises regularly.
  • Respond to alarms and react in a timely manner.
  • Provide assistance to people in need.
  • Protect the public while on client property.
  • Submit reports of daily surveillance activity.
  • Maintain regular training standards and relevant security qualifications and certifications.
  • Regular upkeep and inspection of company vehicles.
  • Conduct mobile patrols.
  • Investigate and prevent crimes.
  • Issue trespass warnings and/or citations.
  • Detain/Arrest suspects.
  • Supervise up to 7 officers.
