Summary:
A-1 Electrical Contractors, Inc is seeking a detailed-oriented and highly motivated Accounting Intern to join our finance team. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in accounting and finance, developing essential skills, while helping contribute to the success of our organization with potential full-time hiring upon completion.
Essential Functions:
The Accounting Intern will be assisting with the accounting operations of the company.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting with Financial Reporting: Collaborate with the accounting team to prepare and present preliminary financial reports for management review.
- Supporting Internal Controls: Assist in monitoring and maintaining internal control systems to support the financial infrastructure.
- Assisting with Project Budgets: Provide support to the project management team in reviewing and forecasting project budgets, ensuring data accuracy.
- Learning Compliance Procedures: Gain exposure to policies and procedures to ensure compliance with professional standards and state and federal regulatory requirements.
- Supporting Financial Analysis: Assist in preparing financial analyses and contribute to the preparation of financial statements.
- Transaction Support: Aid in managing transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, prepaid expenses, and bank reconciliations, under guidance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong communication skills (written and oral)
- Basic knowledge of general accepted accounting principles
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel
- Strong skills in the areas of math, budgeting, and financial analysis
- Strong data manipulation and analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple activities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Education Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
- Completed coursework in introductory/intermediate accounting and finance.
- Expected Graduation by Spring 2025 or Summer 2025.
Work Environment:
This position is in an office setting during normal business hours. Schedule may vary depending on coursework
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods, stand, walk, use hands and arms, talk, hear, and view a computer monitor for extended periods. Lifting up to 15 lbs occurs occasionally.
