Summary
The Lead Electrical Estimator is responsible for managing, estimating, and coordinating bids for potential projects, both small and large-scale commercials, under the supervision of the Chief Estimator.
Essential Functions:
- Estimate labor and material costs for upcoming commercial projects, with project takeoffs ranging from $2 million to $10 million in value.
- Perform a comprehensive electrical material take-off from bid documents.
- Review and fully understand job-specific specifications and scope requirements.
- Track and maintain bid due dates, meetings, walk-throughs, and addendum changes.
- Communicate regularly with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure deadlines are met.
- Collaborate closely with the Chief Estimator and the Vice President of Preconstruction to communicate project details before deadlines.
- Build relationships with project management staff to facilitate the smooth transition of awarded projects from pre-construction to construction.
- Attend meetings with general contractors, architects, engineers, etc., as needed to understand project requirements.
- Provide peer-review and guidance for estimators and junior estimators in the preparation of takeoffs, proposal letters, and other bid-related documentation.
- Assist with business development and marketing initiatives as requested.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of electrical methods, best practices, and safety standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
- Strong mathematical and estimating skills.
- Substantial familiarity and exposure to on-screen takeoff software (e.g., Procore, Accubid, ProEst, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents and blueprints
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Excellent phone etiquette with strong customer service skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members, management, and clients while adhering to company policies.
Education and Qualifications
Minimum:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certificate of Completion from an accredited electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent
- Alternative: 4 years of construction-related experience in lieu of formal apprenticeship program
Preferred:
- 4 years of electrical construction industry experience
- Associate degree in Electrical Technology or related field
Experience Qualifications
Minimum:
- 4 years of electrical estimating experience
- Proficient in Microsoft office and On Screen takeoff software
Preferred:
- 4 years of industry experience within the electrical construction field
Work Environment:
- Primarily office-based (80%) with occasional site visits (20%) during project-specific hours.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly requires sitting for extended periods, standings, walking, and using hands/arms.
- Ability to work in varied environments, including exposure to outdoor elements, construction sites, and equipment noise/vibration.
- Ability to view a computer monitor for extended periods.
Salary Range: Negotiable Based Upon Experience.
