The Staff Accountant – Revenue & Sales Tax Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely revenue recognition and sales tax reporting as related to account receivable functions. In addition, this role will be accountable for daily/monthly/quarterly/year-end accounting tasks as assigned. Essential Functions
- Develops, implements, and monitors procedures to ensure effective and efficient operation of the accounts receivable department pertaining to revenue, billing and sales tax applications
- Interacts with interdisciplinary teams to ensure superior performance
- Resolves non-routine, complex variances and issues with internal and external customers
- Records, updates, and reconciles related financial information and provides general accounting support
- Creates and prepares invoices, credit notes, and corrections of billing details for all divisions, subsidiaries, and related companies
- Ensures accurate application of sales tax upon invoicing
- Prepares accurate accounts receivable aging reports
- Performs account reconciliations
- Maintains orderly and easily retrievable customer and records
- Prepares analysis of sales team performance and calculates appropriate commissions according to company commission plans
- Interacts with clients to resolve outstanding issues, as needed
- Responsible for month/quarter/year-end close activities
- Responsible for audit requests
- Accepts ownership for accomplishing new and varying requests

Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Manufacturing or Construction industry
- Strong revenue recognition and accounts receivable billing experience
- Strong Sales Tax application experience in multiple states
- Strong construction lien law experience
- Strong knowledge of contract terms and conditions
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite with intermediate Excel skills
- Professional verbal and written communication
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent from two-year college/technical school
- Certified Credit Professional (CCP) certification or willingness to attain in 1 year required
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred
Work Environment
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
