The apprenticeship program with A-American Electric is a mixture of On the Job Training (OJT) and classroom instruction. In partnership with surrounding counties, Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC), Apprenticeship NC, and other electrical contractors, we are able to offer a well rounded apprenticeship. There is no cost to apprentices to participate in the program.
The Apprenticeship program is a 3 year commitment that will span 5-6 semesters. Classes are held (1) day a week through 13-15 week semesters that follow the BRCC school calendar. Classes are generally 7-8 hours each and include both classroom lecture as well as hands on labs. Students are issued a new copy of the NEC NFPA 70 as well as a copy of the NFPA 70E and a current NCCER text book. Class time is paid time so you never miss work, or income, while learning.
Once a student has completed the entire apprenticeship, along with required OJT, the goal of the program is to have them read to apply for and take their North Carolina Limited Electrical License exam.
Individuals interested in the apprenticeship program do not need to have any prior experience.
Must have :
- Candidates must have ability be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening as well as random drug screenings.
- Applicants must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation. Our field positions do not meet at the shop daily. Team members are responsible to get themselves to the job sites and sometimes must go from job to job in the middle of the day.
