Job Description:
Executes cleaning, arranging, displaying inventory items in storage locations in accordance with plan and guidelines from supervisory personnel. Position is accountable for good housekeeping, improved appearance and clear presentation of products and identifiers. (i.e., tags and labels).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Follows safety rules, instructions, and guidelines. Complies with and encourages compliance with safe practices in all activities.
Inspects and checks the status, arrangements, and upkeep of inventory items according to plans and directives from management. Undertakes corrective actions as needed.
Observes the moves of inventory items in the course of daily business directed at improving efficiency and preventing loss and damage.
Assists in order picking and preparation during peak times as requested by management.
Properly documents inventory movement as prescribed in the plan and procedures.
Assists in physical inventory counts whether total annual, partial, or spot counts. .
Safely and securely operates gas or diesel trucks of varying types and sizes (flatbeds 33,000lbs most often, tractor trailers, pick-ups and others) over-the-road to deliver and pickup products to and from customers and other related parties. Observes all federal, state and city speed and safety regulations and also Company customer service and safety policies and practices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- At start of the shift, obtains route assignments, complementary instructions and all delivery documents. Reviews delivery documents and attends to issues or discrepancies promptly with supervisory personnel.
- Visually inspects the assigned vehicle to observe defects and problem areas and checks operating systems-brakes, horn, lights. Promptly reports any problems to supervisor.
- Closely monitors the assigned vehicle (i.e. the truck) to ensure that is in excellent working conditions at all times. This includes checking daily and maintaining oil, water and all other liquids, maintaining the correct air pressure in tires, checking that all straps, safety equipment and lights are in good working other. Performs additional verification needed to maintain a safe vehicle.
- Responsible for ensuring the safe and careful loading and unloading, load placement and general treatment of the products and packages on the truck.
- Carefully inspects the products loaded to ensure that they correspond exactly to the route documentation received earlier. Verifies and immediately brings up any discrepancies or problems to the attention of supervisory personnel. Drivers are completely and financially responsible for the cost of products included in their documentation. Any discrepancy must be immediately reported to the supervisor.
- Responsible for ensuring that the vehicle is correctly loaded, i.e. not overweight and strapped correctly, and that the truck in a safe driving condition when either leaving our yard for a delivery or when picking up material.
- Closely follows instructions as to priorities and special cases. Delivers product to customers in a prompt, professional and courteous manner. May assist offloading at customer’s facilities.
- Immediately reports to supervisor:
- Negative customer feedback
- Deviation from schedule or instructions received
- Problems that results in being unable to complete the route.
- Wait to unload exceeding 15 minutes
- Special situations resulting in delays.
- Must always and always contact supervisory personnel of the Shipping Department about deliveries and pickups. Deviations from this practice cause severe damage thus any violation of this instruction is subject to immediate disciplinary action. If contacted by anyone other than the Shipping Manager, must immediately report incident to the Shipping Manager.
- Correctly completes and safeguards al paperwork associated with deliveries and returns all paperwork back to the company in neat order.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- May assist in loading the truck.
- Must follow all company procedures at all times. There can be no personal riders at any time.
- Truck must always be attended.
- Performs other duties and assignments as directed by supervisor and management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must meet the Department of Transportation physical and medical requirements and pass substance abuse screening. Employee is subject to random substance abuse screening under company policy.
- Must have a safe and clean driver record, i.e., no DUI within the last 3 years and no points on the Driver’s License.
- Familiar with the Tri-County Area (Dade, Broward and Palm Beach)
- Good physical conditions and able to operate a hand truck and other moving equipment. Employee must lift limited loads up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Ability to read and comprehend basic English.
