Under the general supervision of the Behavioral Health (BH) Clinical Supervisor, the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) will support clients in leading fulfilling lives, which may involve regaining independence, improving quality of life, or achieving personal goals, by overcoming physical, emotional, or developmental challenges. This position requires the ability to exercise good judgment and initiative and work independently. A professional demeanor and appearance are required.

COTA Responsibilities and Duties:
Assist in the development and implementation of client treatment plans
- Conduct therapeutic activities according to the occupational therapist's guidance
- Monitor client progress and report it to the supervising Occupational Therapist
- Instruct clients and families in following treatment plans and using therapeutic equipment
- Help clients improve their cognitive, physical, and emotional well-being
- Maintain accurate and timely records of client progress and treatments
- Modify treatment plans to address client needs in consultation with an Occupational Therapist
- Educate client and their families on tasks and activities necessary for rehabilitation
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to optimize client care and outcomes
COTA Qualifications and Skills:
Previous experience working in a healthcare setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt to various client needs and treatment environments
- Proficiency in using occupational therapy tools and equipment
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to therapy
- Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
- State licensure or certification as required by local health authorities
- Basic life support or CPR certification
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- Multilingual abilities are a plus.
