A Budget Tree Service is looking for a Plant Health Care (PHC) Technician to join our team! The PHC Tech monitors, diagnoses, and treats issues affecting the health of trees and shrubs, applying fertilization and pest control methods, and educating clients on plant care. The PHC Technician works in accordance with applicable ANSI, BMP, and other industry standards and in compliance with all state regulations and policies as it pertains to pesticide applications for trees and shrubs. The ideal candidate will have a valid driver's license, have excellent organizational skills, and be able to work outdoors under varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions.
Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Inspect trees and shrubs to identify signs of disease, pests, or other problems.
- Determine the cause of plant health issues and recommend appropriate treatments, including fertilization, pest control, and other interventions.
- Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and other treatments to address identified problems, using spray and injection tools.
- Maintain accurate records of treatments, applications, and client interactions.
- Operate and maintain specialized equipment, such as sprayers and injection tools, and ensure proper functioning of vehicles and equipment.
- Adhere to industry best practices and state/product guidelines and policies assuring quality applications.
- Ensure overall safe, productive and quality work done on each property, attending to the details through proper tree evaluations, job site hazard assessments, and pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Maintain tools, chemical, and material inventories and ensure all items are in operational condition.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- One year of tree care and/or plant health care application services.
- Have a current and valid Driver’s License and pass the company driving test.
- Ability to work a varied time schedule according to seasonal requirements including occasional Saturdays.
- Must be able to work outdoors under varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions for extended periods of time.
- Have excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain first-aid certification.
- ISA Certified Arborist preferred or ability to obtain certification within a specified time frame.
- Current State of Florida Commercial Applicators License holder.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
