Overview
Mainframe Developer (Payroll) (Remote)
SUMMARY:
- Tier One Technologies has an immediate need for a Mainframe Developer to support a Payroll application for our US Government client.
- This is going to be a 100% remote position.
- SELECTED CANDIDATES WITHOUT REQUIRED CLEARANCE WILL BE SUBJECT TO A FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION TO RECEIVE IT.

- Research, design, implement and manage software programs as well as testing and evaluating new programs.
- Resolve problems with software and respond to suggestions for improvements and enhancements.
- Write and implement efficient code. Develop quality assurance procedures and deploy software tools, processes and metrics.
- Work closely with other developers, UX designers, business and systems analysts.
- Participate in development of software user manuals. Instructs, assigns, directs, and checks the work of other software developers on the development team.
- Consult with engineering staff to evaluate software-hardware interfaces and develop specifications and performance requirements.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- A degree from an accredited College/University in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline is required.
- 8 years of hands-on experience with COBOL programming on IBM z/OS, batch processing and online transaction processing.
- Proficiency in JCL, VSAM, DB2, IMS, and CICS.
- Familiarity with mainframe communication tools such as CICS and mainframe security protocols, including RACF.
- Prior experience working in a Mainframe Payroll application.
- Prior experience utilizing IBM utilities, TSO/ISPF, Abend-AID, File-AID, Control-D and Control-M.
- Knowledge of best practices in mainframe migration planning, including risk assessment and resource management.
- Experience in mainframe migration projects or modernization initiatives is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (ability to translate between business and technical concepts).
- All candidates must be US Citizens or have permanent residence status (Green Card).
- Must be able to obtain Public Trust Clearance.
- Candidate must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.
- Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last 5 years. Military Service excluded.
